TCCWD -Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Public Meeting No 1

Local Hazard Mitigation Plan – Community Engagement Underway

Timber Cove County Water District is working with MNS Engineers to develop a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). This plan helps our community identify and reduce risks from natural hazards—like wildfires, earthquakes, drought, and flooding—by creating strategies that protect our people, water system, and critical infrastructure.

The LHMP is required by FEMA for communities to remain eligible for certain types of disaster assistance and grant funding. It also helps us better prepare for emergencies and improve long-term resilience. TCCWD is preparing the LHMP with grant funding from FEMA.

What We’re Doing

The District and consultant team are:

·         Identifying and assessing local hazards and vulnerabilities;

·         Working with a local stakeholders to develop risk-reduction strategies;

·         Hosting public meetings to share information and gather community input;

·         Preparing a draft plan for review and final adoption by the District and FEMA.

This is a collaborative process that includes input from local agencies, community members, and subject matter experts.
